We are very thankful for our Big Sandy ISD School Board! Thank you for your service to our community.

Due to the snow that our area is experiencing, Big Sandy ISD will be closed tomorrow, Monday, January 11th. As always, the safety of our students and staff is of the most importance. Unless weather conditions worsen into Monday afternoon, the school board meeting that is scheduled for Monday night will still take place.
This is the first time our area has seen this much snow in several years. Take some time to enjoy it with your families. We will see you all on Tuesday!

Big Sandy ISD is monitoring the current weather situation and will continue to do so through the night. A decision delay or close school will not be made until early Monday morning. Please continue to monitor the district’s Facebook page, website and follow the local news for information regarding our status. A decision will be made no later than 5:30 am on Monday after district staff has evaluated the roads throughout the district. Please know that the safety of our students and their families is at the forefront when deciding on whether to close or delay the opening of school.

Today after school, a Big Sandy student was stuck by a car while trying to cross HWY 155. Thankfully the student, while scraped up and bruised, will be okay. We are so blessed to know that our student was not seriously injured. When the accident occurred, some of the Big Sandy busses were nearby, but they were not involved in the accident. Thankfully several staff members were on those busses and able to be on the scene immediately. Again, we are so thankful that our student will be okay.

Big Sandy ISD is updating its COVID-19 information on a district dashboard that can be seen on the district website’s homepage. The link is also below. District Administrators will update the dashboard as often as possible to give our community an accurate count on where our COVID-19 cases are taking place, who is being quarantined, and a look at our recovery rates. The district hopes that the dashboard will give us all a big picture view of the situation on our campuses.
