Last summer, Big Sandy ISD made changes to its 2020-2021 school calendar to add almost 13 days of instructional minutes due to the uncertainty around COVID-19 and its impact on the school year. As of this week, the district has only used three of those 13 days (two when the district shut down in September because of COVID-19, and one in January when we closed for bad weather). Last week, the district was closed for five days, but expect to file a waiver with TEA to get some of those days back.
During our last meeting, the Big Sandy ISD School Board approved adjusting our calendar to add two more days to the Spring Break Holiday this year. Students and staff will now have an early release on Wednesday, March 10th, and be off on March 11th and 12th and during the initially scheduled Spring Break from March 15th through the 19th.
We hope you all enjoy the extra time off with your family this year when the weather is more cooperative for getting out of the house and enjoying one another.

Classes will resume tomorrow Monday, February 22nd at our normal start time. Please be aware that some buses may be running a little later than normal times. We are excited to see you all back on campus. Don't forget your mask and water bottle.

Hey Wildcats our Food Services Director wants to share details about the menu for next week. Due to the inclement weather and school closing we will be changing our menu slightly for the week. We will be serving the menu items from this past Monday through Wednesday this coming week. We have updated the Menus part of our Mobile App to reflect these changes.

Big Sandy ISD will remain closed through Friday, February 19, 2021 due to road conditions and anticipated additional snow and ice. We still have instructional minutes banked; therefore we will not switch to remote learning during this time. We look forward to seeing everyone back on campus on Monday, February 22, 2021.

Hello Big Sandy ISD. It looks as if the winter weather is quickly approaching, and out of an abundance of caution, the district will be closed for classes on Monday, February 15th, and Tuesday, February 16th. Because the district has enough instructional minutes banked, there will be no need for students to switch to remote instruction during this time. Our winter weather continues to be a bit unpredictable, so please continue to monitor the Big Sandy ISD website, Facebook page, and local media outlets to get updates on the district's status later this week. Please be safe out there and enjoy the snow.

Big Sandy ISD is closely monitoring the current weather conditions expected over the next several days. Please watch our website, Facebook page, and text messaging system for updated information about school closures. We will also notify local media. An announcement will come no later than Sunday regarding school on Monday, February 15th. If the district does make a decision to not have school, we will NOT move to remote instruction. Have a great weekend, and stay safe out there!

Baseball games for today and tomorrow have been canceled due to weather.

The Softball Scrimmage that was scheduled for today has been cancelled due to weather.

With Valentine's Day approaching we just wanted to remind everyone that Big Sandy ISD is still not accepting any outside deliveries.

Big Sandy ISD is currently looking to hire substitutes for the district. Dear Big Sandy ISD Parents,
Big Sandy ISD is committed to doing as much as we can to keep our students and staff healthy during COVID-19. With this goal in mind, we are pleased to share that the district is now taking part in a statewide program offering rapid COVID-19 testing in our schools. The program will allow Big Sandy ISD to test symptomatic individuals, including staff and students, hopefully reducing the risk to our school community. The testing program will also potentially allow students and staff who have had to quarantine the ability to come back sooner with a negative test result.
If you are interested in having your child tested, please contact our District Nurse, Vicki Owen and schedule an appointment. Nurse Owen sets appointments daily from 8:30 until 10:00 am and then 1:30 until 3:30 pm.
More information about the program can be found on the Texas Education Agency website by clicking this link.

Friday, January 15th is an early release for students. Elementary car riders begin at noon and secondary students at 12:18 pm. Also, Monday, January 18th is a school Holiday.
